President Jokowi delivers messages on Ramadan, Thursday (23/4).

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (23/4) delivered messages on Ramadan through his YouTube channel.

“I invite all of us to welcome Ramadan gratefully, even though we are facing tough challenges today,” the President said.

President Jokowi also said that the COVID-19 outbreak across the globe forces everyone to do fasting in a very different situation this year.

“There is no carnival on the streets. Mosques are in silence. We will feel the new situation, absorbing the true meaning of fasting,” the President said.

“I invite everyone to make fasting month a moment to strengthen ourselves, to take care of all people we love, and to maintain self-discipline.

The President also said that Ramadan is a moment to break the chain of transmission of the plague for the sake of personal safety, family and the entire nation.

Marhaban ya Ramadan. May Allah bless our steps, give us strength in facing challenges and bless Indonesia,” the President concluded. (HIM/EN)
