President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo distributed 2,500 land certificates to residents in Ponorogo Regency during his working visit to East Java Province, Friday (4/1).

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, on that occasion, said that in 2017, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/ Head of National Land Agency (BPN) Sofyan Jalil has completed 5.4 million land certificates, above the initial target of 5 million certificates. In 2018, the target was raised by 7 million certificates and once again the Minister managed to meet the target, even surpassed it, with a total of 9.4 million certificates.

“If the Minister can maintain this achievement, the issuance of land certificates in Ponorogo can be finished by 2023,” President Jokowi said.

President Jokowi earlier said that the Government should issue 126 million certificates, but until 2015 there were only 46 million certificates that had been issued. r It means 80 million parcels of land have not been certified yet.

Before his administration, the President continued, the issuance of certificates was only around 500,000 per year, meaning that it will need 160 years to complete the remaining 80 million certificates. “This is why we need to speed up the process,” he said.

President Jokowi went on say that this program is going to be continued and the target is rising every year, from 9 million in 2019 and 11 million in 2020.

“So, those who have not held their certificates should be patient,” President Jokowi concluded.
