President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Saturday (1/12) handed over as many as 3,000 land certificates for thousands of residents of four sub-districts in Bogor Regency.

Those four sub-districts are Cigudeg Subdistrict with 750 parcels of land, Jasinga Sub-District with 375 parcels of land, Ciseeng Sub-District with 1,500 parcels of land and Gunung Sindur Sub-District with 375 parcels of land.

For West Java Province, the Government is targeting to issue certificates for 1,270,188 parcels of land by the end of 2018.

However, for the whole Bogor Regency, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning (BPN) has confirmed to issue all land certificates by 2023.

President Jokowi said that the absence of land certificate often causes disputes between parties.

Data from 2014 showed that from a total of 126 million land parcels throughout Indonesia, only 46 million of them already had certificates, the President continued.

Therefore, President Jokowi ordered his Minister to speed up the issuance of those certificates for the people, from 500 thousand certificates each year to 5 million certificates.

“I asked Minister of BPN to issue 5 million certificates in 2017 from normally 500 thousand. In 2018, the number is increasing to 7 million certificates and next year the Government is targeting to issue 9 million certificates,” President Jokowi concluded. (BPMI/EN)
