President Jokowi Distributes 3,300 Smart Indonesia Cards

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday (6/3) distributed 3,300 Smart Indonesia Card (KIP) to 3,300 elementary school, junior high school, senior high school and vocational school students at Lebak Bulus, Jakarta.

Every year, the elementary school students get allowance of Rp450,000 ; junior high school students get Rp750,000 ; senior high school students get Rp1,500,000.

The President said to the students to spend the fund stored in the card only for educational purposes.

“Do not use the money to buy consumption goods such as handphone. Use it only to purchase school equipment such as uniforms, books, shoes, school bags,” the President said.

On that occasion, President Jokowi explained that later the Government will also provide the KIP for college students. Thus, he reminded the students to study harder so that they can get higher score to apply to a university.

“Children must have high spirit to study and pursue achievements,” President Jokowi said.

Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy previously reported that the KIP recipients in Jakarta area reaches 31,299 students with total amount of Rp4,111,000,180,875.00.

Accompanying President Jokowi on the occasion were, among others, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinator of Presidential Special Staff Teten Masduki, and Governor of Jakarta Anies Baswedan. (GUN/RAH/ES)
