As part of his working visit in Central Java province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Saturday (15/9) distributed land certificates to residents in Grobogan Regency and its surrounding areas.

Approximately 8,000 certificates were handed over by the President to the residents.

On that occasion, President Jokowi said that the newly-distributed certificates are included in 55,000 land certificates issued this year. “100,000 will be distributed in Grobogan next year,” the President added.

President Jokowi added that the Government should have submitted as many as 116 million certificates to the community throughout Indonesia; yet, until the end of 2014, only 46 million certificates had been distributed.

Therefore, the President added, the Government continues to increase the distribution of land certificates, in which the target has increased from 500,000 to 5 million certificates in 2017, 7 million certificates in 2018, and 9 million certificates next year.

“Formerly, only 500,000 certificates were issued every year so it will take 160 years (to finish). It is based on my calculation. Do you want to wait that long?” the President asked the residents.

Also on that occasion, President Jokowi reminded the residents who received the certificates to keep the certificates in a safe place particularly before using them as collateral for bank loan.  “If you use it to take bank loan, please calculate it first. Use all the money to start a business. For example, if you get 30 millions of loan, use every penny of it to invest. That’s the only thing I ask from you,” the President said.

Joining the President in the working visit to Central Java Province were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency Sofyan Djalil, Minister of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration Eko Putro Sandjojo, Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, and Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen.
