President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo distributed direct cash assistance worth Rp1.2 million per person to street vendors and stall owners at Kebun Lada Market, Binjai city, North Sumatra province, Friday (02/04).

The assistance is expected to ease the burden of vendors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the recipients at the Kebun Lada Market named Rahma admitted that the assistance will help her improving her business.

“For business capital,” she said.

Rahma also expressed gratitude to President Jokowi because apart from direct cash assistance, she also received basic food assistance to meet daily needs.

Another recipient Teti Sihole who is also a trader at the market said she was happy with President Jokowi’s visit to the market and expressed hope that President Jokowi can return to Binjai city and make a visit again to the market. (BPMI/AIT) (EST/MMB)
