President Jokowi Distributes Food Assistance in Karawang

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (09/14) distributed rice assistance to beneficiary families at the warehouse of state-owned logistics company Bulog in Purwasari sub-district, Karawang regency, West Java province.

The President pointed out that the food assistance program to distribute the Government’s rice supplies will be carried out for the next three months to 21.3 million beneficiary families.

“This is the continuance of food assistance in the form of rice that will be distributed in September, October, and November. We are giving 21.3 million beneficiary families each 10 kilograms. Thus, every month, 10,000 tons [of rice] from Bulog warehouses will be distributed to the people because the number of beneficiary families is 21.3 million,” he said.

On that occasion, several beneficiaries expressed gratitude upon receiving rice from the Government.

“Today I received 10 kilograms of rice and a parcel from Mr. Jokowi. I am very happy, moved. Thank God. I wish Mr. Jokowi good luck and health,” said Siti, one of the beneficiaries.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Oyah, another beneficiary, also expressed her thanks.

“Thanks to Mr. Jokowi. I have received the assistance. Thank you very much. I wish Mr. Jokowi a long and better life,” he said.

Joining the President during the food assistance distribution were Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Head of the National Food Agency Arief Prasetyo Adi, President Director of Bulog Budi Waseso, Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin, and Regent of Karawang Cellica Nurrachadiana. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (DH/MUR)
