President Jokowi Distributes Food Assistance, Medicines for People Affected by Pandemic

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (15/07) distributed basic food assistance for residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in Sunter Agung village, Tanjung Priok district, North Jakarta.

“Tonight I visited Sunter Agung village to distribute basic food assistance to the the people. The Government has prepared 200,000 tons of rice to be distributed by the (state-owned logistics company) Bulog,” the President said after the visit.

In addition to distributing basic food packages, the President also distributed medicine and vitamin packages to people who are self-isolating.

For the record, earlier in the morning the President also launched the distribution of free medicines for the people who self-isolate at home.

“In the first phase, we will distribute 300,000 drug packages and by next week another 300,000 packages will be distributed,” he said, while expressing hope that various social assistance provided for the public can help those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We hope that with the distribution of basic necessities as well as packages of medicines and vitamins can ease the people’s burden amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said. (BPMI/UN) (EST/EP)
