President Jokowi Distributes KIP Cards in Gorontalo

In a series of his working visit to Gorontalo Province, President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo distributed the 2019 Indonesia Smart Card (KIP) to Elementary, Junior High, and Senior High School students at the David-Tonny Sports Center, Limboto, Gorontalo Regency, Friday (1/3).

President Jokowi said that each KIP card is worth Rp450,000 for elementary school students, Rp750,000 for junior high school students, and Rp1,000,000 for senior high school students.

“The funds in this card are only used for matters relating to education,” the President said, adding that the money should not be used for unimportant expenses.

President Jokowi also urged the students to study well and keep their thirst of knowledge at all times.

On the occasion, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said that the total budget for KIP program in Gorontalo is Rp41,170,700,000 that will be disbursed to 80,502 students.

“The number of recipients will continue to grow along with the proposals of new KIP recipients,” the Minister said.

Also present on the occasion were First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, Minister of Education and Culture Muhadjir Effendy, Presidential Chief of Staff Moeldoko, and Gorontalo Governor Rusli Habibie. (UN/JAY/ES)
