President Jokowi Distributes Social Assistance in E. Java

Continuing East Java working visit, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi, Monday (08/22), distributed social assistance at Larangan Market in Sidoarjo regency, East Java province.

Upon arrival at Larangan Market, the President and First Lady were welcomed by Regent of Sidoarjo Ahmad Muhdlor Ali, Head of the Sidoarjo Office of Industry and Trade Ec. Tjarda, and Head of Larangan Market Maslucha.

Afterward, the President and First Lady greeted market vendors at their stalls and distributed social assistance directly to beneficiaries.

Yanti, one of the beneficiaries who work as a laundry attendant, stated that she was ecstatic to meet the President and First Lady in person and receive social assistance from them.

“Thank God. I never expected to meet them here, not only seeing them on TV, oh God. Thank you for the assistance. I hope it brings blessings to my family. Amen,” she said.

Mahmudah, another laundry attendant who received social assistance, echoed the same sentiment.

“I was happy but nervous. I had chills all over my body,” she said.

According to Mahmudah, President Jokowi told her and other beneficiaries to use the assistance as additional business capital.

Joining the President and First Lady at the visit were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (DH/MMB)
