President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Sunday (08/28) inspected Cicaheum Market, Bandung city, West Java province to mark his working visit to the province.

At the market, the President accompanied by First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, distributed social assistances, namely capital assistance and cash assistance to the beneficiaries including sellers and street vendors.

He expressed hope that the assistances can be used as capital for their businesses.

“Today, just as in other provinces, I distribute staple food package to beneficiaries of the Family Hope Program (PKH), and capital assistance to the sellers at the market and street vendors,” he said.

On that occasion, the President also monitored prices of staple foods. The prices, he added, are relatively stable except for egg prices, which fluctuated in the past couple of days due to an increase in the prices of poultry feed.

He also affirmed the Government’s commitment to revitalize the market considering its condition which needs some improvement. However, it required further discussion because Cicaheum traditional market was built on the area of regional-owned enterprises (BUMD).

“I will discuss it with the Governor and Mayor about this market. If revitalization needs to be done, we will do it. However, the area is the property of BUMD,” he remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat Presidential/UN) (RAS/MUR)
