President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Friday (03/10) handed over Social Forestry and Land Objects for Agrarian Reform (TORA) Decrees to the people in Blora district, Central Java province.

In his remarks, President Jokowi appealed to the people to use the social forestry land productively by planting teak, corn, or mahogany.

“Social Forestry Decrees have been handed over, so do use the land productively and do not neglect it,” the President stated in his remarks.

The President also reminded the Government to revoke the decrees if the land is not used productively.

On that occasion, the President also handed over at least 1,043 land certificates for the Blora people.

The President added that around 120 land certificates were pending and would soon be completed by the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).

“The remaining 123 certificates will soon be completed. We have worked quickly, because not only Blora district is being taken care of, but also all districts, 514 districts/cities throughout Indonesia,” explained the President.

The President also said that he was pleased to hand over the land certificates which are very important to settle the long-standing land conflicts in Blora as well to deter similar disputes in the future.

“ATR Minister said that land conflicts have been going on since 1947. Therefore, last year I gave an order to the Minister to inspect it directly, especially in Ngelo sub-district, Cepu sub-district, and Karangboyo sub-district. I was wondering why it was not yet settled. The BPN should have settled it, and today the problem has finally been solved,” he remarked. (MAY/UN) (FKH/AW/HD/MUR)
