Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung has denied rumor saying that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo seeks to move his presidential inauguration forward a day earlier.

“The President understands state administration,” the Cabinet Secretary said to reporters at Building III of the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/10).

Pramono added that the rumor saying that President Jokowi wanted to move forward his inauguration date did not come from the Palace.

“The inauguration will be held in accordance with the schedule that has been decided by the General Elections Commission (KPU). Because the period term of the House of Representatives (DPR) and presidency is fixed for five years. So, the event should not be held a day earlier or a day after,” he added.

The Cabinet Secretary further said that the presidential inauguration for the period of 2019-2024 will be held in accordance with the KPU’s schedule on October 20, 2019. (FID / MAY / JAY / ES)
