President Jokowi wishes happy fasting, Friday (26/5)

After the announcement of the result of Isbat Session held by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, on Friday (26/5), President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo, wished Happy Fasting.

The President also expected that the momentum of this holy month could be used to increase good deeds and worship, as well as the sense of fraternity and unity.

“Hopefully, in this holy month we can increase our good deeds and worship, as well as our sense of fraternity and unity as a nation,” the President said.

Previously, the Government, has announced that the first day of Ramadan 1438 H shall fall on Saturday (27/5). This announcement was delivered by Minister of Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin after leading an Isbat Session at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jalan M.H. Thamrin No. 6 Jakarta, Friday (26/5) evening.

Director of Islamic Affairs M. Tambrin reported that the observers in four points, who have been sworn-in by the Judge of Religious Court, have spotted the presence of the new moon.

The observers are: Researcher Assistants of Boscha ITB Bandung in East Nusa Tenggara: Muhammad Irfan (47) and Yusuf (35); Drs. H. Mukhtar Monde (56) Sharia Adviser in Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Regional Office of North Sulawesi; M. Zulkifli (25) and Listiya Rifai (27) employees of Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency of North Sulawesi; H. Asyhar (50) a student of Master Degree of Cosmography of UIN (State Islamic University) Walisongo; H. Abdullah Toyyib from Islamic Boarding School Langitan Tuban; Solahuddin from Cosmography Institution of Nahdlatul Ulama Gresik; M. Hamidi and Prayudi, teachers from Thousands Island.
