Infrastructure development which is being intensified throughout the country contributed to the increase of investment value generated outside the island of Java, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“We must be grateful that this year’s investment value in regions outside Java island gradually increased and has exceeded that of regions in Java island. The increase in investment is attributed to our efforts in developing an equitable infrastructure throughout the country,” he said at the inauguration of Tebelian Airport, in Sintang regency, West Kalimantan, Wednesday (12/08).

The Head of State went on to say that infrastructure development is carried out in all corners of the country, not only in Java island.

“We believe regions outside Java can achieve fast growth if it is supported with adequate infrastructure, connectivity, and transportation that will contribute to the increase in production, smooth flow of distribution. It will also cover wider market, cut time and cost to make logistic cost more efficient and competitive,” he said.

For the record, the Ministry of Investment/the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) recorded that investment realization value in the third quarter of 2021 (July-September) stood at Rp216.7 trillion, consisting of Rp104.2 trillion (48.1 percent) generated from regions in the island of Java, and Rp112.5 trillion (51.9) percent from outside Java.
