President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Friday (09/22) invited several artists to explore Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara (IKN) in North Penajam Pase regency, East Kalimantan province.

The President began his agenda by sharing lunch with the artists at the construction workers’ residence before leading them on a visit to the presidential office construction site.

On that occasion, the President also explained the construction progress and pointed out the view of the Presidential Palace visible from the rooftop of the presidential office building.

Upon witnessing this, several artists said they were impressed with and praised the progress made in the development of the IKN.

Indonesian rapper Igor Saykoji said that he was amazed by the direct view of the IKN’s layout.

“I am amazed. If we hadn’t visited the IKN, we wouldn’t have had any idea about the construction progress,” he said, while expressing his optimism regarding the significance of the IKN for Indonesia’s future.

“There is great optimism for Indonesia, for Indonesia’s future, for Indonesia’s leadership,” he added, while expressing hope that the IKN can serve as the center of government for nation-building.

“Everyone now can see that Indonesia can be developed equally,” he said.

Echoing a similar sentiment, Indonesian actress and presenter Asri Welas said she took pride since Indonesia could start implementing equitable development.

“I’m really proud to be an Indonesian where equality does exist. I think this is the right time to be here,” she said.

Indonesian model and actress Aurelie Moeremans admitted that she was enthusiastic about seeing the final results of the IKN development.

“I heard from Pak Jokowi that the construction would be completed in August and I’m so excited. I really can’t wait to see the results,” she said.

After inspecting the location of the presidential office, the President then invited the artist to explore various other infrastructure sites, such as the West National Axis, the Presidential Palace area, and the hill to see the view of IKN from above.
