Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono and Head of the IKN Authority deliver press statement in Jakarta, Wednesday (03/13) (PR of Cabinet Secretariat/Seno)

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (03/13) led a Limited Meeting on the follow-up on land readiness and investment in the Nusantara Capital (IKN), at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

According to the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, the President reinforced the Government’s commitment to make IKN a model for work transformation and to expedite land provision for investment, while underscoring that the IKN is developed not only to relocate the capital but also to be a model for an efficient and fast work transformation for other regional governments in Indonesia.

The Minister said that President Jokowi also called for acceleration of the land acquisition status, particularly for infrastructure development and land provision for investment.

“The IKN Authority should no longer use the old bureaucratic system that is complicated and slow,” Basuki said in his press statement after attending the limited meeting.

Moreover, the Minister continued that President Jokowi ordered that a special help desk be provided to handle investors complaints so that communication between the IKN Authority through a person-in-charge and the investors can be done intensively.

Regarding the progress of the IKN development, the Minister said that the basic infrastructures, including clean water and toll roads, are set to be completed by mid-2024.

“The clean water (facility) and airport are expected to be in operational in July. It is our hope that the Independence Day Ceremony can be held in the IKN and the President will start to work there,” Basuki added.

In the meantime, the Head of the IKN Authority Bambang Susantono revealed that the investment value in the IKN has reached Rp49.6 trillion and 32 institutions have done the groundbreaking ceremonies (FID/TGH/UN) (AP/RAS/LW)
