President Jokowi, First Lady Perform Eid Prayer at Istiqlal Mosque

President Jokowi performs Eid prayer at Istiqlal mosque in Jakarta, Wednesday (04/10) (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat)

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo and First Lady Ibu Iriana Jokowi Wednesday (04/10) performed Eid al-Fitr prayer 1445 Hijri at Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta.

The President, along with Ibu Iriana, their son Kaesang Pangarep and his wife, arrived at the mosque at 06.45 Western Indonesian Time.

On that occasion, the imam of the prayer was H.A. Husni Ismail and the khatib was K.H. Abdul Karim Al-Hafidz.

The khatib delivered a sermon titled “Strengthening Togetherness in Maintaining National Unity and Solidarity”. In his sermon, he encouraged to make Eid al-Fitr a strategic momentum to materialize gratitude into concrete programs and actions and to achieve sustainable success.

“We are certainly determined to achieve sustainable success and be capable of improving the quality of that success over time. Today must be better than yesterday, and tomorrow must be better than today, whether at individual, societal, and national levels,” the khatib said.

He also called on all Muslims and other national elements to strengthen national unity and solidarity.

“All of these are directed and aimed at building and developing a meaningful civilization that brings significant benefits to the nation, the state, and even the global world,” he added.

After performing the Eid prayer, at around 07.50 Western Indonesian Time, President Jokowi and Ibu Iriana returned to the Presidential Palace complex to host an open house for the public. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AP/MMB)
