President Jokowi Gives Cash Assistance to S. Sumatra’s Market Vendors

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (01/24) visited the New Market of Tanjung Enim in Muara Enim regency, South Sumatra province.

On that occasion, President Jokowi distributed Rp1.2 million to every vendor as an additional capital for their business affected by COVID-19 pandemic.

One of market vendors, Santi, said that this additional capital is very helpful to develop her business given that the situation amid COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the economic condition of the market vendors.

Santi also said that President Jokowi also took his time to buy two kilograms of chili at her stall.

Another vendor, Fitri, a tempe (fermented soybean) seller, expressed gratitude for the assistance given by President Jokowi, adding that the assistance will be used as an additional capital for her business.

“I would like to thank you, Mr. President Joko Widodo for your visit to help people to receive additional capital for their businesses. Once again, thank you, Mr. President for your visit. All of us have nothing else to say but thank you,” Fitri said.

Joining the President during the visit were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif, Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir, Minister of Investment / Head of Investment Coordinating Board Bahlil Lahadalia, Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru, and Acting-Regent of Muara Enim Nasrun Umar.
