President Jokowi Gives Directives to Newly-Inaugurated Sports Minister

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (04/03) delivered three directives to newly-inaugurated Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo.

First, the Head of State ordered that Indonesia prioritizes sports which have the potential to win medals in multinational sports competitions, such as SEA Games and Asian Games.

“It must be efficient so that we will get the best medals,” the Minister said in his press statement following the inauguration at the State Palace in Jakarta.

Second, the President ordered that sports competitions are held in massive scale since early age at schools and different levels of the community.

“The President wants sports competitions are held massively at school and university levels. Our people are also urged to organize competitions between villages,” Dito stated.

Third, the President pushed the Minister to realize a more advanced sports industry ecosystem.

“The President cares a lot ad wants the sports industry ecosystem in Indonesia to be more advanced and more established,” Dito said, adding that the President also pays special attention to the Indonesian youths’ entrepreneurship development.

“As for youths, the President wants youths to develop entrepreneurship skills and professionalism, and wants the youth development index to increase,” he stressed.

Dito also underscored that he will continue programs in sports and youth that have been commenced by previous Minister of Youth and Sports Zainudin Amali.

“We will continue what has been started by Mr. Zainudin Amali. All programs such as the Sports Grand Design as well as national youth service center,” he remarked. (TGH/UN) (DH/HD)
