President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (10/26) provided an electric car to support students’ practical learning at state vocational high school (SMKN) 2 Palembang, South Sumatra province after observing learning and teaching activities.
The principal of the school, Suparman, said that President Jokowi offered to provide an electric car upon hearing that the school does not have hybrid cars to be used for practical learning in light vehicle engineering (TKR) classes.
According to the President, electric car is better than hybrid car since, in the future, vehicles will shift from using fossil fuels to renewable energy. Over time, fossil fuels will run out and deplete.
After the President’s visit in the morning, an electric car was delivered to the school later in the afternoon.
Suparman expressed hope that the electric car given by President Jokowi can be used to support learning activities for students in SMKN 2 Palembang.
“Once again, I would like to thank the President. Hopefully, we can use the most of it for students’ learning activities. I also hope all specializations can be supported with better equipment since technology is always developing, while our technology [in the school] remains the same; this could make us fall behind in the industrial world,” he said.
