President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (02/21) inaugurated Hadi Tjahjanto as the new Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs and Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) as the new Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency at the State Palace in Jakarta.

The President ordered Hadi to maintain a conducive political and security situation in the country.

“I have ordered several things related to security and order as well as other things related to support for investments coming into Indonesia,” he said after the inauguration, adding that with his experience as the Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces, Hadi is fit for handling political, legal, and security affairs.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi ordered AHY to issue electronic land certificates more massively, to settle the issuance of rights to exploit (HGU) for carbon trading mechanism, and to meet the target to register 120 million plots of land through Complete Systematic Land Registration (PTSL).

“The target for HGU for carbon trading related to the Government Regulation must immediately be achieved because many [investors] are interested. Third, regarding the PTSL target of 120 million, 120 million plots to be registered on the PTSL, we must be able to achieve it,” he said.

The President also expressed confidence that AHY can properly carry out his new duties.

“We know that he is the Chairperson of Demokrat Party. That is the first. He is also an alumnus of the Military Academy, Nanyang University, Harvard University, and Webster University. I did not hesitate to give a position at Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency because it is a matter of management. I suppose he is very, very ready,” he remarked.
