President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has ordered his Cabinet to remain calm following a lawsuit filed by the World Trade Organization (WTO) against the Indonesian Government following the government’ nickel export ban policy.

“This is called downstreaming and industrialization of raw materials. We stop export on raw nickel ore to mark the beginning of industrialization,” President Jokowi said in his remarks at PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia factory in Karawang Regency, West Java, Thursday (12/12).

The Government, he said, wants to add extra values to the nickel ore commodity, adding that the downstreaming will also provide more employment.

Therefore, President Jokowi stated that the Government will not afraid and will fight against anything that may disturb the national interests without hesitation.

He also has ordered his Cabinet to prepare the best lawyers in the country to win the lawsuit. (RSF/AGG/ES)
