President Jokowi: Gov’t Supports Startups to Enter Online Market

The Government encourages Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to enter online market, according to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo.

“We want to encourage our MSMEs to enter online marketplace,” the President told the journalists after a meeting with CEO of Bukalapak Achmad Zaky at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Saturday (16/2).

The President also called on public to support Indonesian unicorns to compete with unicorns from other countries.

“Therefore, we must stop uninstalling Bukalapak and we must support young people who have innovation and creativity to move forward,” President Jokowi said.

On that occasion, the President also said that the Government will improve research funds management to support innovation. He went on to say that super deduction tax to support human capital development and innovation is under consideration.

“We must support Gojek, Traveloka, Tokopedia, Bukalapak and other startups to improve our economy” President Jokowi concluded.

Also present during the meeting were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung and Coordinator of Special Staff to the President Teten Masduki. (AGG/OJI/EN)
