President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo received a festive welcome from the people during his working visit to Manado, North Sulawesi, Sunday (31/3).

Initially, President Jokowi was scheduled to attend the 2019 Conferences on Church and Community (KGM) of  the Indonesian Communion of Churches (PGI), at Sultan Raja Hotel, Manado, North Sulawesi, at 18.00 WITA (Central Indonesian Time). The President and his entourage arrived at Sam Ratulangi Airport, Manado, at around 17.45 WITA. They had enough time to get to Sutan Raja Hotel but due to the people’s enthusiasm who welcomed and crowded around the road passed by the President and asked him to take photos, it took him ninety minutes to get to the hotel.

“I think this only happened in Indonesia where the President was stopped in the middle of the road. It should only take fifteen minutes and not nineteen minutes,” the President said as starting his remarks.

The President greeted the excited crowd and took photos with them on the way to the hotel. (RAH/ES)
