President Jokowi ‘Groundbreaking’ Development of Jakarta LRT

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Wednesday (9/9) is scheduled to conduct groundbreaking of Phase I the construction of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok and Bekasi (Jabodebek). The laying of the first stone of the 1st phase of the LRT project will be held in front of Jasa Marga office, tolls-KM 5,400, across of the orchid park, Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta.

Previously, President Jokowi on September 2, 2015 has signed two (2) President Regulation related to the construction of railways in Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang and Bekasi, namely Presidential Regulation No. 98 Year 2015 on the Acceleration of the Implementation of the integrated Light Rail Transit (LRT) in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok and Bekasi; and Presidential Regulation No. 99 No. 99 Year 2015 on the Acceleration of the Implementation of Public Railways in Jakarta.

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung also told the reporters about the regulation related the construction of LRT, which was signed by President Jokowi.

“Regarding the LRT, the President has signatures the regulation related with things. First, the appointment of PT Adhi Karya to build the facilities. Then, form the organizing body Jabodetabek transportation,” Pramono said at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (2/9).

In Presidential Regulation No. 98 Year 2015 is mentioned, the implementation of the integrated LRT Traffic Services consist of: a. Cross Services: Cawang – Cibubur; b. Cross Services: Cawang – Kuningan – Dukuh Atas; c. Cross Services: Cawang – East Bekasi; d. Cross Services: Dukuh Atas – Palmerah – Senayan; e. Cross Services: Cibubur – Bogor; and f. Cross Services: Palmerah – Bogor.

Through Presidential Regulation, the government appointed PT Adhi Karya as the executor of LRT construction projects. However, the government also formed a steering committee to monitor the tasks assigned to Adhi Karya.

The steering committee will be established by the Minister of Transportation, which consists of elements of the Ministry / Institutions (K / L) and professional. “Steering committee tasked to assist the Minister of Transportation to oversee PT Adhi Karya,” reads one part of the regulation.
