President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (06/05) at the Merdeka Palace handed over bonuses to the athletes of the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia.

On that occasion, the President expressed gratitude for the achievements of the Indonesian contingent at the sports event.

“On behalf of the people, the nation, the Government, I would like to extend my gratitude for the hard work of all of you including medalists, athletes, coaches, coach assistants, officials, and all of you who have given their best,” the President said.

President Jokowi has set a target of 69 gold medals, while the achievement exceeded target. The Indonesian contingent bagged 87 gold medals, 80 silver medals, and 109 bronze medals.

The Head of State also expressed his gratitude to athletes of four sports branches, including women’s basketball, men’s indoor hockey, women’s cricket, and men’s football who have secured gold medals.

Athletes of men’s indoor hockey and women’s cricket have won their first gold medals in the history of their participation in SEA Games, while athletes of women’s basketball and men’s football have ended 64-year wait and 32-year wait for the gold medals of the SEA Games.

President Jokowi also encouraged all athletes to continuously improve their achievements in the future, while underscoring that the bonuses handed out by the Government can be optimized for long-term investments.

For the record, the Government provided bonuses with the total amount of Rp289 billion for athletes, coaches, and coach assistants. The bonuses are as follows.
