Prior to ending his working visit to Riau Islands province, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Monday (01/25) handed over cash assistance to sellers at Taman Batu 10 in the Bintan Center Market Area, Tanjung Pinang city.

The cash assistance of Rp1.2 million per person is provided to increase the capital of COVID-19 affected sellers.

One of the sellers, Eva, who sells toys, admitted that the capital assistance has greatly helped her. She also said that this assistance is her first since the start of the pandemic.

“Thank God, I’m really glad. I would like to make a table first. I used my own money for the steel frame for the table, now I am also receiving assistance. I am very happy, this is my first-time receiving assistance since the pandemic,” she said.

Likewise, Royadi, a banana fritter seller, also said that the capital assistance handed over by the President has greatly helped him. He also did not expect to meet and directly talk with the President.

“I didn’t expect this at all, this is the luck of a lifetime. On the capital assistance, no matter how much it is, thank God,” Royadi said.

After the handing over, the President and his entourage went straight to Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport in Tanjung Pinang city, to go back to Jakarta, onboard the Indonesia-1 Presidential Aircraft. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MMB)
