As part of his working visit in North Kalimantan on Tuesday (19/10), President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo handed over capital assistance for street vendors in Tarakan, the largest city in the province.

“This afternoon I was in Tarakan city, North Kalimantan province, in order to hand over capital assistance provided by the Government for street vendors on this road worth Rp1.2 million,” President Jokowi said.

On that occasion, the President expressed hope that the additional capital can help street vendors in improving their businesses.

“We hope through this additional capital, they can develop their businesses well in the midst of this pandemic,” he said.

The President also expressed hope that the turnover of street vendors can increase again along with the improvement of pandemic situation in the country.

“Based on the information delivered previously, they are optimistic since their turnover has now been increasing. It was much better than before. We hope their turnover will keep increasing when the situation returns to normal,” he remarked. (FID/UN) (RIF/LW)
