President Jokowi Hands over El Nino Cash Aid in E. Java

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (12/27) handed over El Nino cash aid in form of direct cash assistance to beneficiaries in Banyuwangi regency, East Java province.

The President said that the cash aid is given to increase people’s purchasing power amidst the rise in commodity prices, including rice.

In addition to the El Nino cash amounting to Rp400,000 per beneficiary, the Government also distributes 10 kilograms of rice assistance each month. The rice assistance has been distributed since September this year and will continue to be distributed for the next three months.

“As many as 10 kg will be distributed in January, February, and March (2024),” he said.

On that occasion, Sumiatun, a beneficiary, delivered her appreciation for the assistance. She also expressed hope the Government can ensure the sustainability of the assistances in a bid to increase people’s purchasing power. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/MUR)
