President Jokowi Hands Over Social Assistance at Jailolo Post Office in North Maluku

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (09/28) visited the Jailolo Post Office, West Halmahera regency, North Maluku province.

On that occasion, the President handed over several social assistance to the beneficiaries, including presidential assistance (Banpres) worth Rp1.2 million, direct cash assistance for fuel oil (BLT BBM) amounting to Rp300 thousand for September and October period, and staple food packages.

“This envelope is the presidential assistance. Have you all received the assistance? It worth Rp1.2 million, other assistance is in the form of BLT BBM worth Rp300 thousand. I hope the assistance is enough to meet your needs. If there is further surplus in the State Budget, we will increase the [amount of] assistance,” the President said.

The President also urged all beneficiaries to use the social assistance for productive purposes.

“The assistance should be used for productive things such as for children’s education or nutrition. But using the assistance to buy a cellphone? It is not allowed. Do not buy a cellphone, phone credits, or new clothes,” he asserted.

Based on data from Ministry of Social Affairs, there are 11,466 BLT BBM beneficiary families in West Halmahera regency. As of September 26, 2022, the realization of BLT BBM distribution in the regency has reached 76.83 percent (8,847 beneficiary families). (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/AIT) (RIF/HD/MMB)
