President Jokowi Hands Over Waqf Land Certificates
President Joko Jokowi Widodo handed over 204 waqf land certificates for mosques, musallas, educational institutions, and Islamic boarding schools to 12 representatives of management or users of waqf land at the Al-Barkah Mosque, Bekasi, Friday (25/1).
In his remarks, President Jokowi said that he has instructed Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) to accelerate the completion of waqf land certification.
“Every time I visit a village or a hamlet, I get many reports on land disputes. There are a lot of disputes on waqf land even though mosques have been built on the land,” the President said, adding that the main cause of the waqf land disputes are the increase of land price and the fact that many of the land lots are without certificates.
“That is why we distribute waqf land certificates in many places, not only in West Java Province, but also in Aceh, West Sumatra, Riau, Banten, Central Java, East Java, and South Sulawesi,” the President said.
President Jokowi also expressed his gratitude to Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) and heads of the BPN offices who have made a lot of efforts to deliver waqf land certificates in Bekasi.
“God willing, Insha Allah, the waqf land certificates will prevent land disputes in the future,” President Jokowi concluded.
Also present during the event were, among others, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) Sofyan Jalil. (FID/JAY/ES)
