President Jokowi Highlights Strengthened Partnerships between Developing Countries

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo pushed for strengthened partnerships between developing countries.

“In the current state of global uncertainty, it is time for us to re-strengthen the ‘Bandung spirit’ between the global south countries,” the President said after a bilateral meeting with President of the Republic of Kenya William Ruto, held at the State House, Nairobi, Republic of Kenya, Monday (08/21).

In addition, President Jokowi also expressed belief that it is time for the world to listen to the voices and interests of developing countries.

“It is time for the world to listen to the voices and interests of developing countries, including in terms of making a leap of development,” the President said.

Previously, during the bilateral meeting, President Jokowi highlighted that Kenya and Indonesia have a historical affinity since the Asian-African Conference (KAA) in Bandung in 1955 and the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/LW)
