President Jokowi Holds Bilateral Meeting with Czech PM

To kick off his working visit in Brussels, Belgium, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Wednesday (12/14) held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala, at the Steigenberger Wiltcher’s Hotel.

President Jokowi expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for his sympathy on the Cianjur earthquake recently. In addition, the President also congratulated the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union this year.

“Thank you, Your Excellency, for your sympathy for the earthquake tragedy in Cianjur. And, congratulations on the Czech Presidency of the European Union Council which coincides with the momentum of 45 years of the ASEAN-EU partnership,” said the President.

During the meeting, President Jokowi also addressed several issues: economic cooperation, defense and strategic industry cooperation, and Indo-Pacific cooperation.

“Several measures that I think we can pursue to improve our trade includes accelerating the completion of the Indonesia-EU CEPA. I also hope that the Czech investment plan can also be realized soon,” he said.

On defense and strategic industry cooperation, the President expressed appreciation for Czech participation in the Indo-Defense 2022.

“Defense and strategic industry cooperation needs to be improved through joint production, technology transfer, and manufacturing investment,” the President stated.

President Jokowi also invited the Czech Republic to the Indo-Pacific Infrastructure Forum which will be held in Indonesia in 2023. The forum aims to build an inclusive architecture so that stability, peace, and prosperity can be maintained.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister congratulated Indonesia on the G20 presidency this year and the ASEAN chairmanship next year. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (FI/MMB)
