President Jokowi Holds Bilateral Meeting with President Xi Jinping

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (07/27) held a bilateral meeting with President of People’s Republic of China (PRC) Xi Jinping at Jinniu hotel in Chengdu city, Sichuan province, PRC.

On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his gratitude to President Xi Jinping for China’s support for Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship.

“I highly appreciate China’s support for Indonesia’s ASEAN Chairmanship and ASEAN centrality [concept] in inclusive regional architecture to maintain a peaceful, stable, prosperous Indo-Pacific region,” he said.

President Jokowi also underscored that Indonesia and China have made significant progress in various collaborations, especially since the meeting that the two countries had on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Bali last year.

For the record, President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana Jokowi arrived at Tianfu international airport, Sichuan province at 14.40 local time. Upon arrival at the airport, President Jokowi and the First Lady were welcomed by Indonesian Ambassador to China Djauhari Oratmangun and Defense Attaché Brigadier General Benny P. Nadeak. Afterward, they headed to the location of the bilateral meeting and welcomed by President Xi Jinping and First Lady Madam Peng Liyuan. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/UN) (AP/MMB)
