President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo held a Limited Cabinet Meeting on the Progress of Mpox Handling and Preparation for the Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (08/27).

The President called on all parties to be more vigilant against the potential spread of the monkeypox (Mpox) virus outbreak.

“I also strongly call for our caution and vigilance regarding the spread of the Mpox [monkey pox] outbreak,” he said.

President Jokowi also called for surveillance at all international arrival gates to immediately prevent the Mpox virus and ordered Ministry of Health and related institutions to undertake the necessary preventive measures.

“The previous experience of the COVID-19 pandemic can be used as a reference. So, I immediately order you to develop health protocols and massively disseminate information on this,” the President added.

On the Indonesia-Africa Forum (IAF) in Bali, the President said that accommodation for the heads of state coming to the forum should be well prepared.

“I want you to update me on the preparedness of the event, how many heads of state and governments will attend, and matters related to hotels and accommodation,” he said.

The President expressed hope that the IAF will run smoothly and produce tangible results.

“I would like to make sure that there are concrete results from the holding of the Indonesia-Africa Forum in Bali,” he remarked. (KS/DNS) (FI/MMB)
