President Jokowi Hopes Cooperatives Can Be One of People’s Economic Strengths

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo expressed hope that cooperatives can become one of the people’s economic strengths.
“I hope our national cooperatives can face these challenges with new creativity and innovations in production, marketing and financing. One of the ways is by adopting digital technology,” the President wrote on his Twitter account @Jokowi Sunday (12/7) which coincided with the commemoration of the National Cooperative Day.
“We hope cooperatives can become one of the people’s economic strengths in order to survive and play a role in national economic recovery,” he said, adding that national cooperatives celebrates its 73rd anniversary amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has brought heavy pressure to the business world.
For the record, the cooperative movement in Indonesia held its first national congress on 12 July 1947 in the West Java town of Tasikmalaya and the date was later commemorated as the Indonesian Cooperative Day. (EN)
