In light of the amendment to Law Number 30 Year 2002 on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) proposed by the House of Representatives (DPR), President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo expressed hopes that the move can strengthen the anti-graft body.

“We hope the DPR shares the same commitment (with the Government) to strengthen the KPK,” President Jokowi said in Boyolali regency, Central Java, Friday (6/9).

However, the President said he had not yet read the detail proposed by the DPR. “I must know the detail first before commenting on it,” he said.

Previously on his working visit in Pontianak in West Kalimantan province on Thursday (5/9), President Jokowi said that the KPK has so far done a great job in combating corruption in the country.

For the record, during the DPR Plenary Meeting on Thursday (5/9), all factions of the DPR agreed to amend Law Number 30 of 2002 on the KPK and there was no objection from any members in attendance at the plenary meeting. (MAY/JAY/ES)
