President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has expressed hope that members of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Supervisory Council are those with integrity.

“I will announce members of the KPK Supervisory Council to the public in December,” the President said on Wednesday (11/6).

In an unprecedented move, the KPK Supervisory Council will be elected and appointed by the President himself.

The list of members of the KPK Supervisory Council personnel, according the President, is still being discussed by an internal team and once it is finished, he will announce it.

Regarding the inauguration of the KPK Supervisory Council, President Jokowi confirmed that they will be inaugurated along with the KPK commissioners for the 2019-2023 period next month.

Previously, President Jokowi told reporters on Friday he will not form a Selection Committee to elect the KPK Supervisory Council, while ensuring that those appointed have good credibility.

For the record, under Law Number 19 of 2019 on the Second Amendment to Law Number 30 of 2012 on the KPK, the KPK Supervisory Council consists of five members whose duties include overseeing the implementation of the duties and authority of the KPK, granting consent or not to conduct wiretapping, searches and/or confiscation.
