President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo hopes two infrastructure projects in West Java, i.e. Kertajati International Airport in Majalengka Regency and Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi (Bocimi) toll road shall finish by early 2019. It is much better if the project can be finished by the end of 2018.

“I have received reports from Deputy Governor on the progress of Kertajati Airport. The construction goes well but it needs to be accelerated. I want to encourage all related parties to work faster so the construction could finish by early 2019; much better if it could be finished by the end of 2018,” the President told the journalists in Cirebon, West Java, Thursday (13/4) afternoon.

Regarding Bocimi toll road, the President explained that it will shorten travel time from Bogor to Sukabumi that usually takes 6-9 hours.

“The distance is relatively short but it needs a lot of time to travel. I have tried it once. I also encourage to accelerate this project,” the President said.

Until February 2017, the progress of Kertajati Airport has reached 30.09 percent. This 1,800 hectares airport is expected to be able to accomodate 11 million passengers per year.

Meanwhile, Bocimi toll road is expected to reduce the travel time from Bogor to Sukabumi to only 45 minutes. At the moment, the first phase of the construction, Bogor-Cigombong, has reached 30 percent. Section I of Bocimi toll road is scheduled to finish by December 2017. (RAH/ES) (MMB/YM/Naster)
