Although the Presidential Election will be held by 2019, a number of political parties have expressed their support to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to continue his leadership for the 2019-2024 period. The political parties include the NasDem Party, the Golkar Party, the United Development Party (PPP), the United Indonesia Party (Perindo), and also the People’s Conscience (Hanura) Party.

In response, President Jokowi said that every party has the right to express its views and support to anyone. The President considered that it is the party’s right. Likewise, if there are individuals who convey their intention, according to the President, it is the right of every individual to convey their political views. “I think that’s it. For example, journalists are also allowed, it’s okay, it is also the rights of individuals,” President Jokowi told reporters after opening the Hanura Party’s National Leadirship Meeting (Rapimnas), at the Stones Hotel, Kuta, Bali, Friday (4/8) morning.

According to the President, he currently still focuses on completing the programs which are still underway. “I focus on it,” the President said.

When asked about what the Government’s communication is like with political parties in the future, President Jokowi said, if the communication is good then go hand in hand, every policy will definitely make it easier because the Government can immediately decide, implement it, and of course, the monitoring is also very important.
