President Joko “Jokowi” confirmed that national handling of the impact of the earthquake that rocked Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has been done by the Central Government together with the Provincial and Districts Governments.

“We are still in the early stages, in the administration process related to the delivery of assistance for the heavily, moderately, and slightly damaged area. We must follow procedures,” President Jokowi told reporters after handing over the sacrificial animals to Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board (PP) management, at the PP Muhammadiyah office, Jakarta, Thursday (8/23).

Later when the administration process is finished, President Jokowi said he would revisit Lombok.

“Maybe this week or early next week, so that people can immediately repair their houses and start economic activities there,” said President Jokowi.

The President expressed his hope that public activities in the island can be recovered soon. However, he also reminded that there are still aftershocks even until last night.

Regarding the issuance of Presidential Instruction (Inpres) on Lombok quake mitigation, President Jokowi answered that it has been done. (DND / JAY / ES) (STU/MMB/Naster)
