President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Thursday (05/11) chaired the 15th Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Summit at the Meruorah Hotel, Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.

In his remarks, President Jokowi stated that the IMT-GT trading volume managed to reach US$ 618 billion in 2021 despite the recent global crisis.

“In the future, the IMT-GT must be more capable to encourage accelerated economic growth that is inclusive and sustainable amid the tough challenges in the years ahead. We are facing high level of uncertainty and rivalry and the domino effect of global economic turbulence,” the President said.

In the meantime, the President also encouraged the IMT-GT to strengthen collaboration to accelerate economic growth.

The President further said that the IMT-GT should spread the spirit of collaboration to achieve the IMT GT Vision 2036, amid increasing competitiveness, connectivity, tourism and investment.

“Entering its 30th year, IMT-GT is a golden triangle of cooperation for 85 million people across 3 countries,” the President remarked.
