President Jokowi In East Kalimantan for Tax Amnesty Program Dissemination

President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo on Sunday (4/12) made a working visit to Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, to disseminate the Tax Amnesty program in the province.

The Tax Amnesty Program has now entered the second phrase (1 October 2016 – 31 December 2016).

Balikpapan is the 7th city the President visits to disseminate the program after Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Medan, Surabaya, and Makassar.

Citing data from East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan Tax Directorate General Office, Head of Information, Media and Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat Bey Machmudin in his press release on Sunday (4/12) said that people’s enthusiasm in the two provinces to take part in the program is quite high.

“It is recorded that as many as 7,286 tax prayers in the two provinces have declared their assets and received tax amnesty letters, while repatriated funds have reached Rp. 983 billion,” Bey said, adding that in the East Kalimantan, which is known for the richness of its mining and mineral sector, President Jokowi will speak before 2,500 industry players in the two provinces.

In the meantime, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati will also talk about Law on Tax Amnesty, while Chairman of the Commissioner Council of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) D. Hadad will explain the issues of repatriation and investment, and Minister of State-owned Enterprises Rini M. Soemarno will talk about investment opportunities.

Also joining the President in East Kalimantan visit were First Lady Ibu Iriana Joko Widodo, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Chief of Staff Darmansjah Djumala, and Staf Khusus Presiden Ari Dwipayana. (BPMI/RMI/ES)(EP/YM/Naster)
