President Jokowi in Kuala Lumpur for Official Visit
President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, accompanied by First Lady IbuIriana Joko Widodo, on Thursday (8/8) headed for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to conduct a reciprocal visit after Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad visited Indonesia in June.
President Jokowi and his entourage arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 7.30 p.m. local time. They were warmly welcomed by Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia Rusdi Kirana and his wife, Minister of Defense of Malaysia H. Mohamad bin Sabu and his wife, as well as Indonesian Defense Attaché to Malaysia Col. Inf. Tri Andi Kuswantoro.
On that occasion, President Jokowi still donned Balinese traditional attire after attending the Opening Ceremony of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) congress in Bali.
The President has previously said he will discuss various issues including Indonesia-Malaysia border areas, Indonesian migrant workers, and discrimination against Indonesian palm oil products, with his Malaysian counterpart. “Those are the main issues (we’re going to discuss),” the President said.
