President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated 724 the Indonesian National Defence Forces (TNI)/Indonesian National Police (Polri) graduates – who had previously been educated at the TNI Academy and Police Academy – during the Prasetya Perwira oath-taking ceremony held in the courtyard of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday (7/19) morning.

The 724 TNI/Polri officers consist of: 225 graduates from the Military Academy, 102 from the Naval Academy, 119 from the Air Force Academy, and 278 from the Police Academy.

The inauguration is based on Presidential Decree Number 56/TNI/2018 and Presidential Decree Number 57/Polri/2018. The graduates also pronounced the Officers’ Oath in the presence of the President.

The President said that the inauguration of these officers was not the ultimate goal they had achieved. It is a beginning for their journey and devotion to the country.

“On my own behalf, on behalf of the people, on behalf of the nation, on behalf of the state, I congratulate you on your inauguration as TNI and Polri cadets,” the President said.

The President understood that the struggle of the cadets before being sworn in today was very hard. All officers from the Military Academy, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, the Police Academy must pass through a very heavy selection and struggle.

The President also gave an appreciation and pinned the rank of officers to the four recipients of Adhi Makayasa Award for the best graduates. They are Rovi Ardya Prawira from the Military Academy, M. Faishal Djauheri from the Naval Academy, Summa Laras Fatsagunar from the Air Force Academy, and Dolly Septian from the Police Academy. (DNA/ES) (MUR/YM/Naster).
