President Jokowi Inaugurates Anies and Sandi as Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta for 2017-2022

Anies R. Baswedan and Sandiaga Uno have just been inaugurated by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo as Governor and Deputy Governor of Jakarta for the 2017-2022 period. Governor Anies confirmed his readiness to work. “The campaign phase has ended, preparations have been completed, it is time to fulfill all the promises. Therefore we seriously start working, directly, and we hope what has been planned can be implemented,” Anies told reporters after his inauguration, at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (16/10) afternoon.

Regarding his work program, Anies explained that his programs and activities are to ensure that the Governor of Jakarta is the Governor of all. “Governor for those who voted me and who did not because it is solely a decision-making mechanism to determine who the Governor is,” Anies said while asserting that as the Governor, the constitutional and moral mandates are for all citizens of Jakarta.

According to Anies, he and Sandiaga want Jakarta which is just, belongs to all, not belong to a group of people, not for those who have money only, but also for those who want to achieve prosperity. He added that Jakarta is a city for everyone.

When asked about a message from the President, according to Anies, the President would invite him to meet President Jokowi within 1-2 days. “In shaa Allah, we are ready to meet President Jokowi,” Anies concluded. (FID/OJI/JAY/ES) (MUR/YM/Naster).
