President Jokowi inaugurates At-Taufiq Mosque in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Wednesday (06/07), inaugurated At-Taufiq Mosque in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.

The Mosque is dedicated to the late Taufiq Kiemas, Speaker of the People`s Consultative Assembly (MPR) for the 2009-2013 period.

“The mosque will not only play its role as the house of worship for Muslims as taught by Prophet Muhammad, but also serve as a center for strengthening Indonesia’s modern civilization. A civilization that does not set Islam against Pancasila (state ideology). In fact, it strengthens synergy between Pancasila and Islam, Pancasila and religions. It also fosters harmony between four state pillars, namely Pancasila, the 1945 Constitutions, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) and religions,” the President said.

He went on to say that Indonesia’s civilization is the one that brings progress and prosperity to the people, as well as materializes an advanced Indonesia as aspired by the first President of Indonesia Soekarno, popularly known as Bung Karno and the founding fathers of Indonesia.

On that occasion, the President reminisced roles of the late Taufiq Kiemas in Indonesia’s political history.

“He was a politician with broad network, an excellent communicator who was able to unite and embrace diversity. He was known as the Father of Four Pillars for his dedication to promote Pancasila, the 1945 Constitutions, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. He was a renowned humanitarian who showed great social concern about education and volunteerism,” he remarked. (TGH/UN) (RAS/MUR)
