President Jokowi Inaugurates Counterterrorism Agency Head

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurated Police Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar as new Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/5). Boy was installed as Head of the BNPT based on Decree of President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 86/TPA of 2020 on the Discharge and Appointment of High-ranking State Official at the National Counterterrorism Agency which was promulgated by President Jokowi on 5 May 2020.

The inauguration ceremony was begun with reverberation of the national anthem “Indonesia Raya” and followed by recitation of the Presidential Decree by Deputy Cabinet Secretary for Administrative Affairs Farid Utomo. Afterwards, Boy took oath of office before President Jokowi.

“I do solemnly swear by Allah to uphold the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia by all means, and to execute all laws and regulations in the fairest way possible and dedicate myself to the service of the people, the state, and the nation. I will maintain my integrity, will not abuse my authority and avoid myself from committing misdeeds,” the newly-inaugurated BNPT Head said.

Then, he signed the inauguration ceremony minutes and received congratulations from President Jokowi and guests attending the ceremony.

For the record, Boy Rafli Amar,- who served as Deputy Chief of the Police’s Education and Training Institute- was chosen to replace former BNPT Head Suhardi Alius who was transferred to the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency as Senior Policy Analyst.  (TGH/EN)
