President Jokowi Inaugurates Danu Kerti Dam in Bali

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo Thursday (02/02) inaugurated Danu Kerti Dam (previously known as Tamblang Dam) in Buleleng regency, Bali province. On the occasion, the President also inaugurated mangrove area of the Ngurah Rai Forest Park.

“Hereby, I declare the inauguration of Danu Kerti Dam and the mangrove area of Ngurah Rai Forest Park in Bali province,” President Jokowi said.

The President stated that the Dam started its construction in 2018 with a budget of Rp820 billion. It is planned to have a 5.1 million cubic meters capacity.

“The inundation area is approximately 29.8 hectares. This one will irrigate 588 hectares of rice fields,” he said.

Not only for the purposes of irrigation of rice fields, according to the President, the Dam will also serve to reduce floods in the region.

The inauguration was also attended by several local students in which the President quizzed them on the functions of the Dam and gave several bikes to students who answered correctly.

For the record, before attending the inauguration, the President and his entourage took their time to visit Bung Karno Park, an open green space where they can see an inscription about the first president Bung Karno’s biography and his writing which was written on June 6, 1957, as well as his statue.
